CANCUN | Top 5 Things To Do!
Heading down to Cancun? What to do when you're there?
Swim up bar. Obviously. Beach. Duh. Swim up bar. Oh wait, I already mentioned that. Believe it or not, there are more things to do in Cancun, than simply those two, and no matter how much of a religious all-inclusive goer you are, you can spare a day or two, to get away from the resort and see some thing other than the bottles behind the bartender.
So, what are some of the things to do in Cancun?
I lived in Playa del Carmen, 45 minutes south of Cancun, for over 3 years, and while Cancun is not really my cup of tea, I totally understand why people love to come down here for a week of vacation, and pair it with these things to do in Cancun, you can make a vacation of a lifetime. So, let's get involved! Starting at number five, on MY life of top things to do in Cancun ...
THINGS TO DO IN CANCUN | NUMBER 5
Mayan Ruins
I always advise people to enjoy some of the history on the Mayan Riviera. Even if you are on the Cancun Hotel Zone, and are thinking "Chichen Itza or Coba ruins are way too far" well that excuse won't fly much longer because located right on the Cancun Hotel Zone, is El Rey Ruins. These ruins are a short bus ride, or walking distance away from your hotel, and a cheap entry cost of only about 3 dollars per person to get in. That ice cold Corona will be that much more of a treat after doing something cultural.
THINGS TO DO IN CANCUN | NUMBER 4
Cenotes
These fresh water pools have made all my lists as far as things to do in Cancun, Tulum and Playa del Carmen. The reason they range as far as their ranking on my lists, is simply accessibility. In Playa del Carmen, they are so accessible and you would need a pretty thick excuse as to why you could not visit one. Tulum, little more work but still quite easy, but Cancun, although the hotel zone stretched for about 14 miles long, they are still worth visting. If you have a rental car, that is easiest, as you can drive to any one that you want, and have as much time to spend there as you like. You can also do some tours, that will take you to a few different ones, in a memorable day away from the beach.
THINGS TO DO IN CANCUN | NUMBER 3
Wet & Wild Water Park
Mexico has to be the only place in the world, that would allow the combination of water, being flipped upside down, and alcohol. This all inclusive water park only has a few slides, but it is a great place to spend a day, and no matter the age, everyone will be able to enjoy themselves. One piece of advice, the food is very low quality, so bring some snacks, but chances are you won't care.

THINGS TO DO IN CANCUN | NUMBER 2
Sporting Event
I have been to both the baseball and soccer teams in Cancun, and had an absolute blast. As far as quality, the baseball team, Los Tigres, are the reigning Mexican champions, where as the soccer team, Atlante, are in the 2nd division, and the stadium will most likely have under 500 spectators but that does not take away from the fact that you are at a sporting event in Mexico! Plus, the price reflects it.Tickets to the baseball are around $15 for a decent seat along the 1st or 3rd base lines, and for the best seat in the house at the soccer stadium, won't run you more than $5. Totally worth it.
THINGS TO DO IN CANCUN | NUMBER 1
Isla Mujeres
When you arrive off the ferry in Isla Mujeres, you might be thinking "well we should have just stayed here." It is that special. To me, easily my favourite place on the Riviera Maya, and still holds a high ranking on my "Favourite Places of All Time" list. The ferry ride across to Isla Mujeres is worth the 144 peso (8 dollar) cost in itself. You can sit on the top of the boat, take in the sun, and beautiful baby blue ocean, while someone puts a cold beer in your hand. When you are on the island, I suggest renting a scooter, or if you are in a group, a golf cart, and navigating around the 7km long island.

My top things to do in Cancun. If you feel I missed something, let me know! If you enjoyed this, give it a share and help other people know what to do when they are in Cancun, Mexico!
